TAMU Email Forwarding to TTI
Overview
Your NetID@tamu.edu address is a forwarding address that can be configured to route email to your Texas A&M Transportation Institute account if you follow the directions below. There may be occasions when you want to change the behavior of your NetID@tamu.edu email forwarding. There may also be instances where you will need to forward all or some of the emails sent to either your Texas A&M Gmail or Texas A&M Exchange email accounts to the other account (for example, if you enroll as a student and wish to keep school- and work-related emails separated by email account).
Setting up Forwarding for your Published Email Address
1. Go to gateway.tamu.edu.
2. Log in with your NetID and password.
3. Click on Email Settings.
4. Scroll down to Email Delivery Settings. Click on Edit, located on the right-hand side of the screen.
5. Select “Delivered to” and fill in your TTI Email Address. There is no case sensitivity.
Example: “Joe Aggie” should use his primary address of “j-aggie@tti.tamu.edu.”
6. If any other address is listed, the forwarding will not work.
Example: Addresses ending in “ttimail.tamu.edu” or “mail.tti.tamu.edu” are invalid and will not forward.
7. Click Save. When an email is now sent to you at YourNetID@tamu.edu, it will be forwarded to the TTI address you entered.
8. NOTE: This setting will remain as long as your NetID account is active. Students lose their NetIDs and TAMU mailboxes 2 years after becoming a former student.
If you chose any forwarding rule OTHER than Sent to and stored in my Texas A&M Gmail mailbox, you must create an additional forwarding rule within Texas A&M Gmail to avoid missing important emails.
If an email is sent to your_NetID@email.tamu.edu, the email will show up in your Texas A&M Gmail mailbox regardless of what setting you chose in the steps above. Emails are sometimes not seen because of this.
