Every Meeting Online (EMO) by Default
Starting in March 2022, Microsoft has enabled a feature for all users that applies to all users at TTI. The new feature called "Every Meeting Online" or EMO enables every meeting scheduled in Outlook to have an online/hybrid/virtual link by default. For some users, this may be a useful feature, while for others it may be a minor annoyance. This article will show how to enable/disable this feature.
When creating a meeting in Outlook, you may notice that a Microsoft Teams meeting is automatically added to the meeting, even if you did not choose that option. This is now the default policy from Microsoft called "Every Meeting Online".
If you do not want to have this enabled by default, follow these quick instructions for turning the feature off:
If you want to leave the EMO feature on, but simply not have a virtual meeting for this calendar item, you can just choose to turn it off for this one instance.
On the desktop Outlook application, first click on "File" in the top left corner
Next, click "Options" near the bottom left corner
You will now see a pop-out window. Select "Calendar" from the left-hand menu bar. Under the "Calendar Options" section, you can check/un-check "Add online meeting to all meetings". This is what enables or disables automatically adding Teams meetings to all calendar meetings.
For the new version of Outlook, you will want to go to Settings>Calendar>Events and Invitations
