Financial Systems Modernization Update
A&M System CFOs and CIOs,
The Financial Systems Modernization Project to transition FAMIS to a modern technology platform continues to move forward. After discussions with our Executive Sponsors, we have decided to move the go-live date to November 2022. This change in the go-live date allows the project team more time to improve system performance, improve response time, and ensure a smooth launch. Functionally, the system is ready to go with four rounds of user acceptance testing (UAT) completed this spring. More information on the project can be found at: https://it.tamus.edu/modernization/
There are two items we would like to bring to your immediate attention.
Accessing classic FAMIS via a 3270 client
Action: If you access FAMIS via the classic 3270 client, please ensure that you have upgraded to OpenText HostExplorer (previously Hummingbird) version 15.0.5 or higher. This upgrade ensures your version will support the latest TLS encryption levels – which will be required for the new version of FAMIS.
Windows Users: Information for OpenText Host Explorer:

Apple Mac users are encouraged to use software from Mochasoft. Information on purchasing the latest version is found here:
https://mochasoft.dk/tn3270macx.htm
Later this summer and fall we will provide additional information on how to validate your connections to the new version of FAMIS.
File Transfers with FAMIS
The A&M System is replacing the legacy file transfer portal process of direct connection to the FAMIS mainframe system with new software and a new portal.
The new software is GoAnywhere from Help Systems and provides FTP, S-FTP, FTP/S, and HTTPS connections to allow users and automated integrations to send and receive files from FAMIS. FTP/S and S-FTP users will be given a new endpoint and issued new FTP credentials. For HTTP users, the portal will be available for you on your SSO menu. An image of the software is below
We have already contacted all users and IT partners about this change. Please help support this transition.
Note: File formats are not changing.
All users are expected to transition to this new file transfer system by June 30, 2022. File transfers to/from the FAMIS mainframe will be cut off at that time.
Transformational Change
Behind the scenes, a transformational change is taking place with the FAMIS technology. Once this transformation is complete, the process of modernizing FAMIS will begin! We have asked users to provide information on the enhancements/improvements they would like to see. Check out some of their suggestions.
More information coming
Later this year, more information will be provided on logging on, validating, and previewing the new version of FAMIS. Canopy Web users will not see any changes related to this technology change.
