How to setup a standard iPad
This article goes over how to setup a standard iPad that will be used by one person either a new iPad that you received from NIS or an existing iPad.
Please make sure that if this is an existing iPad that you have or received from someone in your department to open a ticket with NIS to wipe and reload the device in that ticket please let us know who the new primary user of the iPad is or if it will be shared amongst the department, used in a guest mode, or used as a sign-in device or similar, or other kind of purpose.
Go ahead and take the iPad out of the packaging and if needed plug it in to charge and turn on the device to get started.
- Select your language, country or region, and appearance.
- At the "Quickly Set Up iPad" screen select "Set Up Without Another Device".
- Login to TTI_WiFi with your credentials or any other WiFi network available in order to connect to the internet. Once connected your iPad will activate.
- You should now be presented with a screen called "Remote Management" letting you know that the iPad is owned and managed by us, Texas A&M Transportation Institute. If you do not see this screen go back and do not proceed further. Please contact NIS for further instructions letting us know that your iPad may not be managed, please have your iPad's serial number found on the back of the device ready so we can locate your device in our system.
- Select "Enroll this iPad" on the Remote Management screen. If necessary, your iPad will prompt you to update to the latest version of iPadOS, this is required in order to proceed.
- After making sure your device is up to date you will be able to setup either FaceID or TouchID if desired as well as creating an iPad passcode, make sure to create a passcode you will remember.
- Now login to your Apple Account using your TTI email, you will then be prompted to login to your TTI account with Microsoft.
- Turn on location services, this helps us located your device if it gets lost.
- Select your display theme.
